On December 6, 1925, fifty-four Carmel women met at the Pine Inn and signed their names as Charter Members of the Carmel Woman’s Club. Today, 94 years later, the Carmel Woman’s Club is still going strong with over 300 members from the entire community.
When the Woman’s Club started the stated Objective was “The specific and primary purpose of this Corporation shall be to promote through charitable giving; mutual help, intellectual advancement, social enjoyment and welfare of the community” and that objective is still what we strive to achieve each and every year.
We invite you to become a member and join us for our programs which are given on the first and third Monday of each month between October and May and for our special Fall Fundraiser, Spring Fashion Show and the Annual Meeting on the first Monday of June. The diversity of events planned by our Board of Directors provides considerable intellectual stimulation as well as social enjoyment. Programs and Events: Programs featuring guest speakers, groups, or entertainers are held twice a month between October and May. A reception with tea sandwiches and desserts is held immediately following our program and provides an opportunity to meet members and visit. Members volunteer to bring sandwiches or desserts to one program per year.
Membership Tea: the first Monday of October starts the year off with a special program to welcome new members and past presidents.
Fall Fundraiser: A Harvest Luncheon with a Sweet Seconds Sale and a wonderful chance drawings a popular event for members and guests. This event funds our donation to community organizations and the CWC scholarship fund.
Spring Fashion Show: A luncheon, fashion show and silent auction s our most popular event. A large portion of the proceeds are donated to charity.
Annual Meeting: The first Monday in June the club holds a salad/dessert luncheon in which all members participate. The newly elected Board of Directors are introduced and the Committee reports are shared with the membership.
Board of Directors: Carmel Woman’s Club is governed by a Board from our membership. The best way to get acquainted with members and become part of the club is by serving on the Board and/or committees.
Newsletter and Membership Directory: Our Directory is published in September and distributed to the membership at the Membership Tea. The Newsletter is printed and distributed a minimum of three times per year.
Enclosed is the application form for 2018-2019. We are excited about new opportunities for the involvement of our members, please consider serving on a committee this year and enjoy great benefits. Membership Dues are $50 per year. Membership benefits include: free admission to fabulous programs and receptions, use of the clubhouse at a reduced rate, invitations to all luncheons & special events and unlimited fun!
